Quay Actions drop-down list

In the Quay Commander window, you can use the Actions drop-down list to rearrange the work queue schedule and manage crane shifts and the overall crane plan, as described in the following table. Which options in this list are available at a time depends on whether you have selected a work queue block or a crane shift block. Regardless of your selection, you can always:

Option

Description

Available For

Dual Cycle selected queues

Dual-cycles the selected discharge and load work queues (WQ) for a bay. See also Link work queues for dual cycling (on page 1).

Work queue

Cancel Dual Cycle

Cancels the dual cycle for the selected WQs. Before canceling the dual cycle, make sure the selected WQs are deactivated and all dispatched WIs are system-bypassed.

Work queue

Link Selected shifts

Links the selected shifts (on page 1) to handle shift overruns.

Crane shift

Unlink selected shifts

Unlink the selected shifts (on page 1)

Crane shift

Unlink selected queues from their POWs

Unlinks or unassigns selected work-queue blocks from their crane or points of work (POW). See also Unassign work queues (on page 1) and Identify a shift overrun (on page 1).

Work queue

Create Activity for Selected Shift

Opens the Edit Shift Activity dialog box, where you can create an activity for the selected shift.

Crane shift

Create Activity for Selected Queues

Adds a crane activity, such as a break-bulk move or hatch lift, to selected work-queue blocks. See also Add shift activities (on page 1).

Work queue

Split Selected Queue

Hard-splits a selected work queue, such as when you need to equalize the workload among two or more cranes. See also Split work queues (on page 1).

Work queue

Modify Queue

Lets you enter queue notes, which print in the Shift Work Letter and Shift Productivity Report.

Work queue

Set Queue Productivity

Opens the Queue Productivity dialog box, which enables you to view or set productivity for the selected work queue. Typically, the Use Shift Productivity check box is selected and you use productivity already set for the shift. When you clear the check box, you can modify the productivity for the crane shift.

Work queue

Adjust Shifts to Match Visit

Synchronizes all shifts for a vessel visit. The shifts get moved as a group to be in alignment with the start of the vessel visit. This is especially helpful for adjusting a crane plan for early or late arriving vessels. See also Handling vessel schedule changes (on page 1).

Crane scheduler rate

Specifies the frequency of crane plan updates. This is an important consideration because scheduling uses a large amount of system resources. You can choose one of the following update frequencies:

  • Automatic: Updates periodically to keep the schedule up to date with any changes you make or that are received from the network.

  • Semi-automatic: Updates the crane plan in response to major network updates.

  • Manual: Only updates when you click Reschedule or move a work-queue block in the Quay Commander window.

You can also specify the crane scheduler rate using the XPS setting CRSHRT. The value you select here overrides the value specified in CRSHRT.

Start selected shift working

Time-stamps the beginning of the selected shift. If you do not use this option, XPS uses the start time as defined for the shift. This option is useful if the ship is late and you would like accurate productivity data.

Crane shift

Finish selected shift

Time-stamps the completion of the selected shift. If you do not use this option, XPS uses the shift end time. This item is useful if the shift finishes early and you would like accurate productivity data.

Crane shift

Suspend selected shift

Time-stamps a break in the work of a shift. This option is useful for accurate productivity data.
